Azure Data Factory (ADF)is a one of the integration tool in Azure stack which is a little similar to SSIS but not matured than that as I mentioned in my previous blog.
ADF contains hundreds of connectors to connect cloud as well as on-premises data sources. On-premises connectors required a data bridge called Integration Runtime to install and registered where as cloud source does not required it.
Data Factory is very convenient to configure, change, monitor and trouble shoot. everything can be done on web browser. No additional tool required.
Before getting started ADF, let's have a look how to create ADF instance and the overview of ADF.
Create ADF instance
This is very simple as other instance creation.
- Log in to Azure portal and click Create a resource button
- search for Data factory and select from the search select box
- Click on Create button
- Provide the parameters required. Please un-tick the Enable GIT check box for now. We will have separate blog on SCM configuration.
- This will take a few minutes to deploy your resource. Then you can see the ADF instance created and available in the resource list.
Once the ADF instance is created, go the resource and select Author & Monitor link there.
Or, you can go to the home page using ADF link directly.
